Mallala, Wasleys sit at top
REGION 8 BOWLS NEWS
State Pairs played out
DIVISION ONE STANDINGS

MALLALA had the bye
for the round.
So, after the completion
of round four, Mallala still
sits top, two points clear of
Wasleys, with both sides the
only remaining unbeaten sides
in this division.
Balaklava has taken over
third spot from Port Wakefield
though only one point sepa-
rates the two sides.
Riverton sits fifth but still in
touch with the top four while
Owen and Hamley Bridge
occupy the final two positions.

Next week’s Division One
round is an intriguing one
with the possibility that no
undefeated sides remain after
the completion of the round.
Port Wakefield hosts unde-
feated Wasleys in the first of
the two feature matches.
On current form, Wasleys
has had two good wins against
strong opposition whereas
Port Wakefield has suffered
two defeats from 4 matches.
If Wasleys is able to
maintain its present form it
will seriously challenge Port
Wakefield in this match.
However, will knowledge of
local conditions provide Port
Wakefield with the necessary
edge in this match? We will
have to wait and see.
The second crucial match
will see top of the table
Mallala welcome Balaklava
to its green.
Mallala has had an impres-
sive start to its season with 3
wins while Balaklava has had
only 2 wins from its 4 matches.
How good is the Mallala
side? This weekend will give
us a very good indication in
what should be a tight affair.
The final match will see
Hamley Bridge face Riverton.
Hamley Bridge has yet to
record a win while Riverton
opened its winning account
with a strong win against Port
Wakefield last weekend.
On present form, Riverton
should have little difficulty
gaining match points against
